Big News!!!
Senior Natalie McFaul is named girls XC team captain.
Boys captain to be named shortly.
Mt. SAC comments by Richard Gonzalez
The good news is that perhaps the most anticipated team clash on
Friday occurs at the top end here as top-ranked
McFarland and second-ranked Big Bear are able combatants here. McFarland started
the season as the favorite and
recently held it owns with a top four finish at the Adidas Classic in Oregon,
but Big Bear is a very dangerous group
bolstered by off-season additions. Will these two teams truly go at it here, or
hide their cards and pull off some pack-run
stunts while gearing up for their Fresno showdown? We’ll see. The bad news, you
ask? Those two squads are the only
ones ranked in the top nine in the state, with 10th-ranked La Jolla Country Day
also entered after a series of fine showings
in the southernmost end of the state. Unranked La Salle is predicted to be right
on the heels of Big Bear and McFarland
as the Lancers are a top heavy group with Austin Williams leading a superb 1-2-3
punch that includes senior Brian Conroy and sophomore Kelly Assinesi, will be a
scoring jackpot in this small 12-team field.
Pasadena LaSalle sr Austin Williams is ranked 2nd in D4 in the
state and should be favored to win that race with four others from the top ten
to give him a good fight.

La Salle Lancer Boys and Girls win their respective
divisions at the Kenny Staub Invitational (10/04/08).

Grant Nunnally Invitational - Riverside CC (Moreno Valley) (SS) - 3
miles - Saturday, September 20th
This competition, named for a Woodcrest Christian star killed in a tragic 2002
accident has his memory live on in fine style with some great competition.
Barstow, three-time defending State Champs and the favorites once again D3, came
down the intersta
te and rocketed to a 25 point total to win handily, led by
individual champ Isaac Chavez 14:54, fifth in last year’s State Meet D3 and
9:11.94 in track over 3200m. Woodcrest Christian’s Jake Jeanson kept Chavez
honest with his 14:57 in second, with Austin Williams (La Salle, Pasadena) here
stretching it out to the three mile distance in style after a good 2 mile
showing at Mt. SAC in the Fastback Shootout the previous week, next at 15:06.
Fastback Shoot-out (SS) - Saturday, September 13th
With the Section Championship down south entrenched at Mt. SAC you might as well
witness and experience the place early on, with the Fastback Shoot-Out giving
folks a 1.92 mile “by-grade” meet peak at the famed Walnut facility. Some super
running was done during the morning with all the races done just after 10:30.
Austin Williams (La Salle, Pasadena) is one of our “up and comers” of the week
off his 9:52 for second, with the 1:59 800 star stepping up in distance here in
fine style, with the D4 star now #4 All-Time senior here ahead of some very fast
people and worth watching the remainder of the Fall at his level.

Boys:
Austin Williams (La Salle, Pasadena) cranked a 9:52 in the
Fastback Shootout at Mt. SAC this past weekend, the equal #6 All-Time twelfth
grade clocking for the 1:59 800 runner who suddenly is a factor D4 at the
Section and State level if he can translate the running up to the 5k distance.
