Dreams Can Come True...

Daniel De La Torre becomes La Salle's first Cross country State Champion.
De La Torre is no longer a king without a kingdom, he's on top of the world having achieved his goal of winning a California State cross country title. This Lancer proved that having a goal and working towards its accomplishment will reap huge results.

This did not come easy however. Danny ran in the morning, afternoon, and evenings on occasions and was frequently bolstered by friendly neighbors who would give him water as he passed by. So to all that contributed, a big thanks goes out to you TEAM DANNY, La Salle's Finest!

A pensive runner minutes before the race.

A Father's concern.

They're off!

Danny blasts off on 5000 meter course.

Danny by a nose at the one mile marker.

Still tight at the 1.5 mile mark.

Defending Champ Larson pulls away to 13 second lead at 2 mile marker.

Danny is relentless though down by 13 seconds.

After the two runners emerge from Killer Hill, look who's in front.

Danny pulls ahead and drives to the fnish line.

One more step to victory.

REDEMPTION!

Congrats, from the ex-champ.

The interview he has been waiting to give for a very long time.

Danny speaks to the two journalists that have supported him the most. Thanks to the Sun and the Starnews.

A proud mom, who does not have to dry away the tears this year.

Here's to the winners...that all of us can be.
