Top 100 State List

The following La Salle Lancers made the top 100 athletes list in their respective events:

Shelby McCray (#14 Discus), David Minguez (#31 Pole Vault), Westley Riley (#43 800 meters), Asha Blades (#77 200 meters).

Former Lancer Great Natalie Calderon earned a NCAA Division III Championship in the Long Jump with an effort of 19'06"

Natalie is the current La Salle record holder in the Long and Triple Jumps.

Minguez goes to the Masters!

David Minguez cleared 14'09 in route to the masters meet next Friday @ Cerritos College.

Every Lancer that qualified for the finals both medaled and scored points: Margaret Sitker (3rd 1600 meters; 2nd 3200 meters), Westley Riley (2nd 800 meters; 6th 4 x 400 Relay), David Minguez (3rd Pole Vault), Austin Williams (5th 1600 meters; 6th 4 x 4), Blake Shaw (7th 1600 meters; 6th 4 x 4), Alex Jimenez (7th Shot Put), Shelby McCray (3rd Shot Put; 2nd Discus), Jonathon Stoddard (6th Discus), Xavier Dyson (4 x 400 Relay)

Congratulations to Michael Perry for making the dyestatcal.com State freshman list for both the long jump and triple jump.

Girls: Margaret Sitker (1600 meters, 3200 meters), Cheyenne Wingate (Pole Vault), Jasmine Jenkins (High Jump), Shannon Gibbs (100 meter high hurdles)

Great job turned in by the La Salle Lancer's today @ the league prelims. There were many PRs and great all-around efforts...GO LANCERS!!!

Congratulations to the Lancer Boys Varsity track team for winning their fifth consecutive League Championship

The team overcame many adversities to accomplish this goal. Driven by the determination of the team's seniors, who leave having only one loss in league competition during their four-year tenure. The team was led by Austin Williams, the incredible frosh Michael Perry, David Minguez, Blake Shaw, Xavier Dyson, Tony France, Alex Jimenez, and Westley Riley

Congratulations to the Lancer Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity track teams for winning the Del Rey League Championships

The Varsity was led by Seniors Margaret Sitker and Shannon Gibbs, and Sophomores Asha Blades, Samantha Cuerington, Jasmine Jenkins and Laura Hill.

The Junior Varsity was led by the "Magnificent Seven Plus One" Florence Kerns, Jennifer Giddens, Shannon Barger, Jo Kinney, Stephanie Payne, Ashley Thomas,  Analuisa Castro, and Jodi Bell.

She Did it Again

Shelby McCray won the Discus and Shot Put at the Carpinteria Invitational with throws of 131'06" and 37'0.75".

Big Day for Shelby

 

Shelby McCray placed herself on top of one of the most storied list in La Salle track history when she threw 140'11" at the Arcadia Invitational. Shelby won the discus in the daytime meet and was invited by for the night time invite. Coach Dave Desmond has done it again. He's three for three at the Arcadia daytime session.

The DMR Stars

Overcoming a dropped baton, the boys Distance Medley Relay team broke the school record for that event (11:07.03). The team from left to right Westley Riley, Xavier Dyson,  Blake Shaw,  and Austin Williams.

 

Arcadia way to go for Margaret

Setting a new school record is now routine for the talented distance runner. She did it again...a 11:26.56 3200 meter run.

 

Another School Record for the Boys

La Salle boy's 4 x 800 team crushed the previous school record of 8:43.1 with a very speedy 8:16.34.  The team consisted of Xavier Dyson, Austin Williams, Westley Riley, and Luke Eisenhardt.

 

Big Day for Frosh Michael Perry

At the "new and improved" Pasadena Games, freshman Michael Perry flew to a distance of 41'05". Shelby McCray won the girls Invitational Discus. Asha Blades ran PRs in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.  Jonathan Stoddard finished 4th in the Invitational Discus. The boys 4 x 400 meter relay (Austin Williams, Xavier Dyson, Tony France, Westley Riley) ran 3:31.39. Finally, the incomparable Margaret Sitker ran personal best in the 1600 meters (5:15.02) and 3000 meters (10:46.18).

Big Day in La Salle Track and Field

CIF Champion Roger Harrison won the Long Jump (22'01")

CIF Champion Westley Riley won the 800 (1:55.67)

There were amazing performances all around from the La Salle track and field athletes in the recent CIF divisional finals.

While the girls team finished 10th, with a top notch performance from Margaret Sitker. In a controversial anti-climatic conclusion, the boys finished 3rd (subject to the outcome of the appeal). Outstanding performances included Jasmine Jenkins 8th in the High Jump (4'10" ties freshman record), Roger Harrison's 15.19 (110m high hurdles; New School Record) and Westley Riley's 1:55.67 in the 800 meter run. Other outstanding performances were David Minguez 2nd in the Pole Vault (13'06") & 6th in the 300 meter hurdles (41.38), Eric Carlos in the shot put (52'01"), Frosh Austin Williams in the 1600 meter run (4:34.41; New freshman record), George Colton, who entered both the 100 & 200 meter dashes as an alternate and placed in both events (11.24 & 22.60 #3 LS all-time), Jonathan Stoddard, entering the discus as an alternate finishing 5th (137'00"), Esteban Gil 8th in the Discus, the 4 x 100 Relay (George Colton, Edwin Scott, Westley Riley, Wesley Lucas) 3rd in 43.65 #3 LS all-time. With many freshman, both boys and girls on the horizon, La Salle track and field promises to be big-time again next year. So congratulations to all who participated in the finals and see you next year.

Congratulations to Edwin Scott for breaking the school's 400 meter record (49.35)@ the L.A. County Championships.

Other outstanding performances were turned in by Margaret Sitker (PR 5:23.97 #3 LS all-time in 1600m run), Eric Carlos (PR 130'01" #5 LS all-time Discus), Shelby McCray (PR 33'08.5" #3 LS a---time), David Minguez (13'06" #2 LS all-time Pole Vault)

Congrats to Samantha Cuerington who won 4 events on Tuesday (13.1 100 meters, 27.2 #9 LS all-time, 31'03" Triple Jump, Anchored 4 x 100 Relay)

Big News on John Caulfield

UCLA Sophomore John Caulfield, who threw

he No. 2 mark in the nation in the shot put

last weekend (63-8.25) will compete in both

the shot put and discus on Saturday.
