Girl Athlete Of The Week
Week ending May 21, 2005

Michele Dannhausen and Shelby McCray for their
finishes in the Discus during CIF Divisional finals. Michele finished 1st
with a throw of 121'05" (#2 LS all-time), while Shelby improved on a very strong
first season with a throw of 116'07" (#3 LS all-time) for 4th place. Coach
Dave Desmond (pictured on the right) has contributed another championship
athlete to the La Salle legacy.
Week ending April 22, 2005

Newcomer Shelby McCray . Shelby landed in the th spot on the
top ten list in both the Discus (100'07" #5 LS all-time) and the shot put
(31'02" #5 LS all-time).

Margaret Sitker for setting Personal Records in all three of
her events at the Russell Cup in Carpinteria, CA. Margaret ran (5:33 in 1600m;
2:35 in 800m; & 12:14 in 3200m).

For Angela Bruning and Shelby McCray making the top ten
throwers list. Angela with a 30'06 toss (#6 LS all-time) and Shelby (with 78'3"
Discus throw, #10 LS all-time).

Laurel Kuhn (on the left) won the 800 meters, in stirring
fashion, against Arcadia H.S. Also Margaret Sitker had a very impressive
1600 and 3200 meter runs against Arcadia HS.

Kjersti Housman for placing 2nd 300 meter hurdles (45.85, new school record,
previously held by Mary Jo Alexander, 2000), 4th 100 meter high hurdles (16.40
#2 all-time LS top-ten), and anchoring (58.5 split) the 4 x 400 meter
relay team to a 4th place finish (4:04.51) @ Cerritos College, Saturday, May 22,
2002.

Michele Dannhausen, Erin DaSilva, Kjersti Housman, Jamie Bell, and Margaret
Sitker for their outstanding performances in the league finals. Kjersti and
Jamie both placed in 4 events. Each establishing a PR which moving up the La
Salle all-time event top-ten lists. Michelle (Shot Put, 33'11.50" #3 top-ten LS
all-time), Erin (Pole Vault 8'03" #3 top-ten LS all-time), Kjersti (300 meter
hurdles 46.16, #2 all-time on LS top-ten list), Jamie (200 meter dash 26.40, #4
all-time on LS top-ten list), and Margaret (1600m 5:35.74 #3 top-ten LS
all-time).

For the third consecutive week the Girl's Athlete of the Week is Margaret Sitker
for her outstanding PR in the 3200 meters (12:27.3) @ Occidental College on
April 30, 2004. That places her #4 of the top-ten all-time and also gives her
the freshman girl's record.

For the second week in a row Kjersti Housman and Margaret Sitker are the
athletes of the meet for their outstanding work in the Russell Cup @ Carpinteria
High School on April 17, 2004. Kjersti placed in 4 events, while Margaret placed
in three events with a PR in the 3200 meter run (12:51.43).

Kjersti Housman for PRs is 100m
high hurdles (17.29), and Triple Jump (32'07.75") on April 10, 2004 @ the
California Relays. Margaret Sitker for lowering her
PRs in 3 events (1600 meters 5:38.50, 800 meters 2:41.21, & 3200 meters
13:07.41) @ both the California Relays and Dual meet vs. Ramona Convent on April
7, 2004.

Jamie Bell for winning both the 100 (12.6) and 200 (26.5)
meter dashes on Tuesday April 30, 2004 @ Occidental College in a girls league
meet against Marymount HS. Those times place Jamie 5th of both the all-time
top-ten list in the respective events.

Thursday March 11, 2004. Kjersti won the 100m High Hurdles (18.4), Long Jump
(14'4.5"), and the Triple Jump (31'02"). |
