La Salle High School
Banquet 2004
Giving praise and thanks to our outstanding athletes and parents
We have experienced a rebirth in track and field over the last 10 years. This boom can be directly attributable to the student/athletes that we attract to the program. It is my wish that we continue to maintain this high level of competition, both in the classroom and on the track and field venues. We have reached a very high level with the girls program and now it appears that the boys program is heading in the correct direction. This progression will continue due to the recent agreement reached with the head football coach, Elar Gallagher, on a mutually beneficial pact with track and field. This alliance should build a path that will lead to championships for both entities.
KJ Housman broke the school record in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.85 seconds. That takes down the mark established in 2000 by Mary Jo Alexander (45.97).
Jeff Smith heads off to college with plenty of hardware. Jeff was elected to the La Salle Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday night, then received the Track and Field Boy's MVP award on Sunday night. Also, Jeff passed the torch on to Dan Minguez next year's team captain.

Coach's Comments.

The 2004 Banquet was a huge success both literally and figuratively. There was close to 125 attendees and everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks to Mytrang DaSilva and Lisa Housman for putting on such a successful, gala affair.
