Perry Advances to State Meet in Long Jump

Michael Perry '10 set a new school record in the Long Jump May 28 at the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet with a mark of 22 feet 8.75 inches. Michael finished sixth overall in the Southern Section, which is made up of nearly 500 high schools. Michael is the first jumper in school history to advance to the State Championships in Track & Field as one of the top 30 long jumpers in the entire state. His accomplishment is the fifth time La Salle Track & Field has sent athletes to the State Meet.

June 4-5 CIF State Championships for Track & Field at Buchanan High School in Clovis. Long Jump begins at 5:00 PM.

Perry & Aikhionbare move on to the Masters

La Salle has a new CIF champion named Itohan Aikhionbare. Itos won the discus throw and in the process qualified for the Master's (state qualification) meet. Her toss of 131'06" (#3 LS all-time) was the 5th best in the entire Southern Section. Coach Dave Desmond strikes gold for the fifth time in 11 years.

Michael Perry finishes 2nd in the Long Jump while qualifying for the Master's Meet to be held at Cerritos College, Friday, May 28. This will be Michael's second trip to the Master's meet in the last two years. Michael Perry also finishes 3rd in the triple Jump with a jump of 43'10.05" and Itohan Aikhionbare finishing 7th in the Shot Put with a throw of 36'03" (#4 LS all-time). Michelle Johnson caps off her excellent season with a 9th place finish in the triple jump. Next year's team captain in already making preparations to an even better season next year.

Congrats to junior Michelle Johnson and senior Michael Perry as new inductees into the La Salle Hall of Fame for Track and Field. This is Michael's second consecutive induction.

Congratulations to Gina Clayton '01, former two-time CIF champion in the 800 meters, on her Graduation from Harvard Law School. Gina is also #5 in the 400 meters, #6 in the 200 meters, #5 in the 1600 and #5 in the 3200 meters, plus ran on both CIF championship relays for  the 2000 CIF team champions. Congratulations to Laura Kuhn '06 for her outstanding work on the Crew team from, University of California in Berkeley, will be participating in the PAC-10 championships. At La Salle Laurel is #4 in the 400 meters, #4 in the 800 meters and ran a leg on the 2003  #2-LS all-time 4 x 400 relay that finish first in the finals. We now have two lawyers we can consult with, the newest one being Jasmine Horton '03 Graduating from Hastings' Law School, University of California. Jasmine is the school record holder in 100 meter high hurdles, #5 in Long Jump, #9 in Triple Jump and #2 in the High Jump. Jasmine is also on the school record holding Sprint Medley team.

Michael Perry is outstanding in loss to Cathedral

The versatile senior  wins 4 events
  In his final league dual meet Michael Perry even outdid himself. Already the school's record holder in the triple jump, now he can lay claim to the school's 21 year-old long jump record (22'05.00") with a mark of 22'05.50".

Perry also moved to #8 LS all-time in the 200 meters.
