Perry Earns
a Master's Berth

Jefferson Strouse 4th in the 110m Hurdles and 5th in the Pole Vault.

Michael Perry jumps 22' 03.25" to make the Masters meet next Friday at Cerritos College. The field events start at 4:30 PM.

Michelle Johnson finishes 9th in the triple jump.
Boys 4 x 400 (Keith Callum (soph), Antoine Peterson (soph), Michael Perry, Brendan Wylie; #3 LS-all time) runs 3:28.88 Samantha Cuerington Jumps 16'10.25" to finish 7th in her final La Salle meet. Itohan Aikhionbare (soph) finishes 5th in the Discus and 9th in the Pole Vault.

Michael Perry will lead a trio of jumpers into the CIF finals. Joining him will be sophomore  triple jumper and new holder of the LS sophomore recordMichelle Johnson (middle) and senior long jumper, #2 LS all-time  Samantha Cuerington  (right).

Mark Dannhausen threw 126'03" for new personal record now placing him #8 LS all-time.

At the 2009 Del Rey League finals Keith Callum became #7 LS all-time in the 400 meter dash.

 

Jonathan Catano earns his Eagle Scout's honor. Jonathan is a four year member of the La Salle track and field team. While performing the tasks required to become an Eagle Scout (the Boy Scout's highest honor) he also participated in track and field. Jonathan's events are the Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump and 400 meter dash. His all-around athleticism will be missed.

Blades Blazes to
200 meter school Record

Asha Blades breaks a 10 year-old record becoming the first girl in La Salle history to run under 25 seconds in the 200 meters. Asha qualified for CIF in four events. Michael Perry wins the league field event MVP award @ the Del Rey league finals. Perry won the Triple Jump (44'04") and placed second in the Long Jump (21'06.50"). Michael qualified for CIF in four events. Jefferson Strouse qualified for CIF as the winner of the Pole Vault and in the 110 meter high hurdles (15.99 for third). Other first place finishers were: Joline Zelenski (JV 1600 & 800 meters), Aviana Kase won both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, David Jackson (110 hurdles),

11 year-old Record

Del Rey league varsity event champions: Michael Perry (TJ), Jefferson Strouse (PV), Itohan Aikhionbare (DT). Junior Michael Perry jumped 44'04" in the Triple Jump at the League Prelims @ Serra H.S. Perry's series included two 44 foot jumps each better than the previous school record set by J.R. Davidson in 1999. Del Rey league JV event champions: Amanda Paggao (TJ, LJ & HJ), Austen Maurer (TJ), Amara Blades (PV), Anthony Soliman (SP),  Brittany Shaw (DT), Nick Kopcha (HJ).

Several Lancers collected hardware at the 3rd Annual San Gabriel Valley Championships.

The Big Four

Jefferson Strouse improved his #7 LS all-time 110 high hurdles mark. Had a season best 300 m H time and cleared 13'00 again. Michael Perry for his best jump series ever (all over 21 feet with a best of 22'00.00") Samantha Cuerington for her incredible jumps of both 16'06.50" and 34'02.50" (#3 LS all-time). Boys Varsity 4 x 400 Relay (Brendan Wylie, Keith Callum, Antoine Peterson, Michael Perry)

Castro and Blades
Soar up the T-10 list

Analuisa Castro (7'06" #5 (tie) LS all-time) and frosh Amara Blades (7'00" #10 (tie) LS all-time) each had personal best  in the Pole Vault. Michael Perry led some blazing sprint times @ Whittier College. Kishon Sanders hits the century (100') mark in the Discus.

Asha Blades has a season best time of 57.32 and 25.49 respectively in the 400 and 200 meter dashes. Michael Perry has seasonal best of 21'07" and 43'11" in the long jump and triple jump.

Brillant Sun of Carpinteria

Michael Perry wins the Long jump and places third in the Triple Jump. Asha Blades impresses with 58.94, 12.51, 25.5 in the 400, 100 and 200 meters dashes. Jefferson Strouse wins the Pole Vault and finishes second in the 110 high hurdles.

The Lancers Win
and the Lancers Lose

You can't go wrong with this headline if La Salle high school faces Bishop Amat. But, Wednesday the Pasadena version of the Lancers prevailed in the Boys & Girls Varsity meet with the JV girls team from La Salle doing likewise.

Kelsey McAlister making the top-ten list in the 1600 (LS #10 all-time) and 3200 (LS #7 all-time) meter runs. Samantha Cuerington wins three events and ran on the victorious 4 x 100 Relay. Michael Perry winning the Triple Jump and 200 meter dash. The return to action of both the UCI bound Austin Williams and the outstanding all-around Jefferson Strouse.

Big 3 in LS vs BM

Sami Cuerington for winning the 100 meter dash, 300 meter hurdles, and Long Jump. Asha Blades blazed to victory in two individual events: 400 and 200 meter dashes. Brian Conroy - Cap had a big day with a second place in the 1600 meters followed by victories in the 800 and 3200 meters.

Chris Alvarado PR-ed in the discus with a throw over 123'. moves up to Top Ten list. Ben Reed jumped 19'03.25" to win the F/S boys Long Jump. Kelsey McAlister set a PR in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs. Samantha Cuerington won the Sr/Jr 300 meter hurdles. Itohan Aikhionbare now #8 LS all-time in the discus.

Girls 4 x 100 (Allyson Pascua, Samantha Cuerington, Lori Cuerington, Asha Blades) with excellent early season time. Boys 4 x 100 (Brendan Wylie, Michael Perry, Matt Payne, Marcus Wells) ditto on a very good early season time. Itohan Aikhionbare set a PR in the Pole Vault and Shot Put.

Big 5 from the OC/VC

Brian 'Cap' Conroy  had a big run in the 1500 meters. This promises to be a BIG season for the talented and hard working senior. Michelle Johnson become #7 LS all-time Long Jumper (15'05"). Michelle the all-around athlete had a good day in the hurdles as well. Ben Reed the freshman comes big in his first invitational in the Long Jump. Finishing first just off the team's top-ten list. Sierra Lauman for being the big team player by attending the meet when she could have easily opted out because she was also attending a required Band Concert Tour. She did both. IMPRESSIVE!!! Asha Blades moved to #2 LS all-time in the 100 meter dash. She also powered the 4 x 100 to second place at the OC/VC invite...Supersonic!

Brian Conroy named
boy's team captain.

Senior Brian Conroy was recently named boy's team captain. Brian has been a

dedicated runner in both Track and XC for the last three plus years.

Now the front line is fully stocked with experienced veterans with the likes of

Allyson Pascua, Samantha Cuerington, and now Brian Conroy.

Top Five Performances March 5, 2009

Kelsey McAlister wins the 1600 meters in her first ever track meet...and there's more to come from this dual sport dynamo.
Itohan Aikhionbare pole vaults 7'0" and throws 79' 09" in the discus in her first ever track meet. What a talent!
Michael Perry wins the Long Jump, Triple Jump and 200 meters. This athlete moonlighting as a musician is being courted by the Air Force Academy.
